About Acupuncture

Acupuncture is an ancient Chinese practice that uses tiny needles to puncture precise points of the body. According to traditional Chinese medicine, the body contains channels of energy, called meridians, that run in regular patterns like rivers to nourish the tissues of the body. When something obstructs the movement of the meridians, health problems ensue. The puncture points in acupuncture are said to unblock the obstructions and help reestablish normal energy flow. Another component of rejuvenation that should be addressed is Texture. Sun exposure, acne, or aging can leave your skin texture uneven, wrinkled, or scarred. Which, can be improved by toxins, chemical peels, lasers, topicals, microdermabrasion and/or micro-needling. Botulinum toxins such as Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin reduce fine lines on the face by weakening the muscles. Injections of botulinum toxin blocks muscular nerve signals, which then weakens the muscle so it can’t contract that causes fine lines. The end result is diminished unwanted facial wrinkles. Rejuvenation can be achieved by addressing three components. The first is Volume which can be achieved with different types of fillers, fat transplant, and/or surgery. The second is Texture. Texture can be improved by toxins, chemical peels, lasers, topicals, microdermabrasion and/or micro-needling. Lastly is skin Tone. Procedures to help with tone and color are chemical peels, cryotherapy, lasers, topicals and intense pulse light (IPL).

Today we are going to review ways to decrease or increase Volume. Volume can be decreased beneath the chin with using Kybella. Kybella is a synthetic deoxycholic acid a naturally occurring molecule in the body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat. When injected into the fat under the chin it destroys fat cells decreasing the fullness under the chin. Once these fat cells are destroyed, they can no longer store or accumulate fat, so further treatment is not expected once you reach your desired effect, which can take one to six treatments. Other ways to reduce volume throughout the body is diet, cool sculpting, liposuction, etc. As we age we naturally lose fat in some areas and gain in others. Three Transformative Uses of Acupuncture

40882621 - acupuncture therapy on auricle, horizontal very close up photoThe thought of needles usually sends people running for the door with images of blood being drawn and shots being administered. Acupuncture, a therapeutic art handed down from ancient Chinese medicine, changes all of that by offering incredible health benefits without any of the pain typically associated with needles.

A Quick Introduction to Acupuncture

Traditional acupuncture is founded on the belief that energy flows through the body in channels, and when that energy goes off track or becomes blocked, pain and illness form as a result. In today’s Western medical applications, it is believed that acupuncture’s tiny needles stimulate sensory nerves under the skin and in the muscles, effectively producing endorphins and other natural substances that help the body feel better and heal.
