Tampa Make Testosterone and Hormonal Therapy

Dr. Hermann has been treating males with hormone therapy for greater than 16 years with great results.  Starting after age 30, as a man ages, the testosterone level in his body declines. Low testosterone levels are associated with the following conditions:

  • Increased fatigue
  • Decreased libido
  • Decreased muscle mass
  • Increased body fat
  • Changes in cholesterol and lipid levels
  • Decreased body hair
  • Decreased hemoglobin and possibly anemia
  • Osteoporosis
  • Type 2 diabetes
  • Cardiovascular disease

The only way to detect low testosterone is to have a blood or saliva test.  We offer very affordable testing through local laboratories.

Once diagnosed with low testosterone, there are several male hormone therapy options available including:

Shortly after beginning treatment, men re-gain energy levels, see an increase in libido, improve symptoms of erectile dysfunction, increase sperm count, improve mood, start to lose weight and gain muscle mass. Because of some of the risks with testosterone therapy, it is important to be screened for prostate cancer before and during treatment. Dr. Hermann or one of her staff will perform the screening or ensure that you have had it done prior to initiation of testosterone therapy. Those with heart disease, sleep apnea, or high red blood cell counts may need extra monitoring if using testosterone therapy as well.

During your initial appointment, the provider will take a health history, perform a physical exam, and ask your goals. Then blood work will be order and the provider will discuss the benefits and risks. In the end your provider with your input will determine the best method for you to administer these hormones.
