Perlane vs Juvederm Ultra Plus in Tampa and St. Petersburg

Dr. Anne Hermann’s patients often ask which is the better dermal filler for them, Perlane vs. Juvederm Ultra Plus.  Juvederm Ultra Plus and Perlane are dermal fillers made of hyaluronic acid and are FDA approved. Hyaluronic acid is a natural element found in the body, and like collagen, diminishes with age. Both products will instantly add volume to the problem areas and smooth wrinkles and folds.

What are the key differences between Perlane vs Juvederm Ultra Plus?

Chemically, they are very similar, but structurally, there are differences.  Fillers are categorized by their g prime, meaning the level that the product holds its shape. Perlane is a higher g prime filler, the filler with larger particles, which makes it the better choice for the areas of the face needing the most lift.  Juvederm Ultra Plus has a lower g prime and is manufactured as a smooth gel.  Both products are an excellent choice for the nasolabial folds and for deep lines.  Perlane provides slightly more product per syringe, so often the best choice is based on price point or if there is a current special on Perlane vs. Juvederm Ultra Plus.
