Here’s how it works: The active ingredient in KYBELLA® is deoxycholic acid, a naturally-occurring molecule in the body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat.
When injected into the fat beneath your chin, KYBELLA® causes the destruction of fat cells. Once destroyed, those cells cannot store or accumulate fat. Dr. Hermann will meet with you to
decide how many treatments you need, most often 3 – 6 treatments spaced no more than one month apart. Once you achieve your desired aesthetic response, retreatment is not expected.
The down-time with Kybella treatment is minimal, with the most common side effects being swelling, bruising, pain, numbness, redness and areas of hardness around the treatment area, that usually resolves in a few days. As with all treatments, Dr. Hermann will discuss all possible side effects with you.
