During the aging process, many people experience skin laxity, with which the skin loosens and sags. Sagging skin on the jaw, in particular, is a common complaint. When the skin around the jaw sags, it diminishes the definition of the jawline and gives the face an older, more tired appearance.
PDO jaw contouring is a minimally invasive cosmetic treatment that can rejuvenate the appearance of the jaw. Using PDO threads, we’re able to tighten and define the skin around the jaw in patients at Hermann Aesthetics & Wellness.
What Are PDO Threads?
PDO stands for polydioxanone. PDO threads are absorbable threads that are designed to rejuvenate the skin by stimulating collagen production. At Hermann Aesthetics & Wellness, we use NovaThreads for PDO jaw contouring.
NovaThreads are safe, fully dissolvable, and reversible PDO threads. There are multiple types of NovaThreads, (smooth, smooth-twisted, and barbed), to create different results. Barbed NovaThreads smoothly lift and tighten the skin by increasing collagen production, making them ideal for contouring the jaw.
The PDO Jaw Contouring Treatment Process
In PDO jaw contouring with NovaThreads, the threads are applied to the subcutaneous fat beneath the skin. The threads are inserted with needles and cannulas coated by silicon and repeatedly polished. This reduces discomfort and bleeding, and a numbing cream is applied to the treatment area before the procedure.
After PDO jaw contouring treatment, the skin on the jaw will be visibly tighter and more lifted. In the days and weeks after the procedure, the threads will stimulate collagen production in the skin, causing it to further tighten. The threads will then be naturally absorbed by the body, leaving behind visible scars or marks from the procedure.
