What Should You Not Do After a Thread Lift?

When wrinkles and sagging skin start to bring you down, a PDO thread lift is a non-surgical treatment option to restore your confidence. This aesthetic treatment can lift, tighten, or volumize the skin by ramping up collagen production.

As with almost any cosmetic treatment, a thread lift requires some aftercare to ensure that you achieve your desired results. More specifically, you should avoid the following actions after a thread lift to protect your newly rejuvenated skin:

Touching the Thread Entry Points

We know it can be tempting, but refrain from touching the threads’ entry points for at least 48 hours. Touching these areas can interfere with their healing process and transfer bacteria to the skin.

Lying on Your Side or Stomach

One of the most crucial aftercare tips for PDO threads is to avoid imparting excessive pressure on the treatment area. Lying or sleeping on your side or stomach can place significant pressure on the treated skin, potentially leading to swelling, bruising, or discomfort. This pressure could even compromise the results of your treatment.

So, try to sleep on your back for five to seven days after your treatment. Some patients can benefit from practicing this sleeping position before receiving a thread lift.

Wearing Makeup

For the first 12 hours after your thread lifts, avoid wearing makeup or harsh skincare products. Your skin is particularly sensitive at this time, so cosmetics can cause significant irritation. Instead, follow all of your practitioner’s instructions for caring for your skin after the treatment.

Receive a Facial or Facial Massage

Avoid facials and facial massages for at least 10 days after a thread lift. Deep facial massages should be avoided for two months after the treatment to ensure the best possible results from PDO threads.

Overheating

Overheating, whether due to strenuous exercise, hot showers, saunas, or hot tubs, should be avoided for at least a week after a thread lift. Excessive heat can elevate your blood pressure and increase the risk of complications from PDO threads.
