If you get Juvederm, Botox, or other injections, you have probably been concerned about the fact that these boosters and dermal fillers are not considered essential. While no one knows how long this will last, it is clear that patients need ways to combat fine lines and wrinkles while waiting on their next treatment. Here are some ways that you can pamper your skin to minimize new lines and wrinkles, as well as prevent current lines and wrinkles from worsening.
The sun is very damaging to the skin. It is very important to get outside at least once a day, especially while we are isolated. Being outdoors reduces depression and anxiety considerably. But when you do go outside, make sure that you are using high SPF sunblock, especially on your face. You can also use a foundation that has an SPF of at least 30.
Moisturize and Hydrate
Keeping your skin hydrated will reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles by maintaining the skin’s elasticity. Hydration also helps with improving or maintaining collagen production. In addition to using a quality moisturizer, you should make sure you are getting adequate water every day.
Many facial lines and wrinkles form because you use your facial muscles in the same way repeatedly, causing lines to form in much the same way as a crease in a piece of often-folded paper. (One example is frown lines.) The reason Botox works to eliminate lines and wrinkles is because it relaxes the facial muscles so that the lines can’t form. If you’re waiting on a Botox treatment, try to consciously be aware of holding tension in your facial muscles. The more you can relax your face, the less likely the lines will reappear or worsen.
